Baghdad, July 22 -- Reuters: Rampant violence continued across Iraq, killing at least 25 people, including six US soldiers, during the past 24 hours.
Twelve people, including a US soldier, were killed in a series of attacks in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad and other known militant trouble-spots.
At least four people were killed when a car bomb ripped through a residential neighbourhood in Baghdad, according to the interior ministry.
Two others were killed and four wounded when a missile ripped through the seventh floor of the Adnan Khairallah hospital on the Tigris River in Baghdad.
US military said an American soldier was killed and six wounded when a roadside bomb destroyed their Bradley fighting vehicle during a patrol. A spokesman said the attack occurred at Duluiya, a town about 70 km north of Baghdad.
In another incident, Iraqi officials said a car bomb ripped through Ramadi, west of Baghdad, killing three brothers walking down a main.
One person died and 14 were wounded in clashes between US troops and rebel forces in the city, hospital and police officials said. A US military spokesman confirmed that American soldiers were battling insurgents in the Sunni bastion but had no details.
Meanwhile, seven Iraqis and a US soldier were killed in a fresh bout of violence in Samarra.
One US soldier was also killed and six injured when their patrol hit a roadside bomb shortly after midnight on a road southeast of Samarra, a US military spokesman said.
Further, police also said the mutilated body of an Iraqi scientist and an unidentified corpse were found in the city in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to the US Central Command, two US soldiers and two Marines were killed on Tuesday in western al-Anbar province. The Marines were killed in separate incidents while conducting "security operations."
